Tuesday 22 October 2013 – Southampton

Audience:  Trade – Food Service & Retail Industry

Registration is NOW open!

With the recent changes to the food labelling regulations, are you aware how they affect your business?  FATC is hosting a seminar for the food service and retail industry to enable greater understanding of your obligations with regard to these changes to the EU Food Information Regulation (FIR) 1169/2011

Businesses have until 13 December 2014 to comply with the NEW allergen labelling and information provisions.  Is your business prepared?

The legislation which covers ALL food supply business operators at ALL stages of the food supply chain, specifically relates to the provision of detailed information of food allergens contained within your product, and how you will provide this information to the end user.

What our speakers are saying…..

Wan Mak, Head of Nutrition and Dietetics  for  Sodexo UK & Ireland states  “I believe it is important that companies like ours take the lead in influencing policies wherever possible within the industry For the allergic individual, the increased visibility and consistency of such labelling information will offer more choice, increased confidence and frequency in eating ‘out of home”.

Sue Hattersley, Head of Food Allergy Branch at the Food Standards Agency commented “This is the most significant change in food labelling legislation since 2005 when allergen labelling requirements for pre-packed foods were introduced. There have already been some prosecutions of food businesses under existing general food law where misleading or incorrect allergen information was given by food service businesses.  See our  blog for  more information

Michelle Berriedale-Johnson Founder of  Free From Food Awards  states – “FreeFrom’ in retail is big business these days and could be even bigger in food service. It just needs the catering industry to get its head around the control measures needed for them to tap into an extremely substantial market.”

Marketing Director at ASK Italian, Catherine Salloux, says:
“Listening to our customers is vital to the ongoing success of ASK Italian.  Whilst we have always invested a lot of time into staff training on our menus and highlighting known allergens, in May 2013 we took the decision to go the extra mile for the growing numbers of gluten-intolerant diners, and became NGCI accredited.”  We’re delighted to be able to share our experience at this event.’ More…
